I Was Four-One-Six was the first song we recorded together. The riff had been kicking around in my head for about a year – it came about after a particularly bad night and most of the song came together right there. The song itself had been jammed on and rehearsed before Shibalba itself, and with the recording of it, Shibalba was born.

The songs on Kelly Reed’s latest are slyly self-deprecating, set to a backdrop of measured keys and guitar for maximum stateliness. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 16, 2023
